THE RUDY VALLEE HOUR
CONTENTS:
- The first time Rudy Vallee was heard on the
radio was in 1928 over WABC. NBC
signed him from 10/24/29 until 09/28/39 for his first series of programs. There were a number of different program titles.
The Fleischmann Yeast Hour, The Royal Gelatin Hour, and The Rudy
Vallee Hour. These programs
were all 60 minutes in length. From 03/07/40 to 07/01/43, NBC changed the format of the
program to 30 minutes under the title of The Sealtest Show. Two additional seasons on NBC, 09/09/44 to 06/27/46,
sponsored by Drene Shampoo, and finally 09/10/46 to 03/04/47 for Philip
Morris, were in the 30 minute format also. Rudy
Vallee was then heard over WOR for 30 minutes weekdays featuring mostly
records and talk from 02/20/50 to 04/27/51.
His final appearance was over CBS from 02/27/55 to 06/19/55 for
Kraft, again featuring mostly records and talk, but for 60 minutes on
Sundays.
