THE RAILROAD HOUR

CONTENTS:

     Starting on ABC 10/04/48 in the unusual 45 minute format, the program continued through 04/25/49 and then switched to the more conventional 30 minute format.  The last ABC broadcast was on 09/26/49.  The series then moved to NBC from 10/03/49 until 06/21/54.  The Railrod Hour presented operettas and musical dramatizations based on many different sources.  Gordon MacRae was the lead on each broadcast assisted by different leading ladies.  Some of the female leads heard were Dorothy Kirsten, Dorothy Warenskjold, and Lucille Norman.  Also heard were Rise Stevens, Ginny Simms and Margaret Whiting.  The announcer was Marvin Miller and the musical director was Carmen Dragon.  Series was sponsored by the Association of American Railroads.
