LIGHTS OUT

CONTENTS:

     Usually referred to as Arch Oboler's Lights Out, this series was actually created by Wyllis Cooper in 1934.  First heard as a local program broadcasting from the studios of WENR Chicago from 01/01/34 to 04/10/35.  For the first three and a half months, it was a 15 minute program and then was expanded to the 30 minute format.  NBC picked up the series from 04/17/35 until 08/16/39 and continued airing it from Chicago.  In May of 1936, Cooper left for Hollywood and Arch Oboler took over the control of script writing.  From 10/06/42 to 09/28/43 the series was heard over CBS with the sponsorship of Ironized Yeast.  The series continued for short summer runs from New York. 07/14/45 to 09/01/45 and 07/06/46 to 08/24/46, still on NBC.  A network jump to ABC from 07/16/47 to 08/06/47 had the programs airing from Hollywood for the final original broadcasts.  From 1970 to 1973, a syndicated version of the series was heard under the title of The Devil And Mr. O.
