THE EDGAR BERGEN & CHARLIE MCCARTHY SHOW

CONTENTS:

     First heard over the Rudy Vallee program on 12/17/36, Bergen & McCarthy soon became nationally famous and enjoyed by everyone.  They started their NBC-Red network radio careers on The Chase And Sanborn Hour from 05/09/37 to 12/31/39 as a one hour program and from 01/07/40 until 12/26/48 as a 30 minute show with the program name changing to The Chase And Sanborn Program. Edgar Bergen then made a permanent change to the CBS network and their new sponsor was Coca-Cola from 10/02/49 until 06/01/52.  Hudnut sponsored them from 10/05/52 to 05/31/53.  The final 30 minute season was for multiple sponsors from 10/11/53 to 06/20/54.  The one hour format was then revived for Kraft from 09/12/54 until 02/20/55.  The last season on the air was from 10/02/55 to 07/01/56 and was reduced by 5 minutes to a 55 minute program with multiple sponsors.
