CAPTAIN MIDNIGHT

CONTENTS:

     First heard as a local program in the Midwest on 10/17/38 as a 5 day a week program, Captain Midnight became an immediate favorite.  By 10/17/39 it was heard over WGN - Chicago, and throughout the Midwest area for Skelly Oil.  This very popular juvenile program was finally picked up by the MUTUAL network beginning on 09/30/40, for Ovaltine.  The series continued five days a week until 07/03/42 on MUTUAL.  From 09/28/42 until 06/22/45, the series moved, with Ovaltine as its sponsor, to NBC-Blue, still 5 days a week.  Its last network switch was back to MUTUAL beginning on 09/24/45.  The series lasted until 06/17/49 as a five days a week program.  The last series of broadcasts were reduced to twice a week from 09/20/49 until the final program on 12/15/49.  Ovaltine continued its sponsorship of the series until the last broadcast.  Many well remembered premiums were offered to the listening audience during years of these broadcasts.  Each broadcast is 15 minutes in length.
